Are you still looking at the world through a post-internet lens or have your interests changed? I’m glad you brought that up and also that you mentioned that your first impression of NFT projects was that they were ugly. Then all those people didn’t give a fuck about me or my art anymore.

I love art, but doing it as a job is complicated.

The KBOTs -- 3D, animated renderings of spherical robots with tiny faces, performing actions like dancing and painting -- are perhaps Vollstaedt’s most popular creations. Do you still find it a source of inspiration for your art?

ITO: I’ve never been someone who felt inspired or uninspired in regards to making art.

I think all day and I don’t want to think more. That passion inspires me.

Parker Ito is a contemporary artist based in Los Angeles.

Tess Pollok is a writer and the editor-in-chief of Animal Blood. This isn't just a project for us; it's our lifelong mission.

MEET THE TEAM
Hey, I'm Austin.

Here are three LGBT NFT artists you should be supporting, and keeping an eye on as the NFT world explodes.

Selling NFT Artwork Is Lucrative, but Competitive

The Summer of NFTs is in full swing and has seen incredible progress towards making NFTs mainstream throughout the world.

Victor tells Esquire that he was never allowed to leave the house other than for school, and was not allowed to access the internet.

Other than drawing, he had few comforts, but even that would not last as his grandparents were unapproving of his creations, which were a form of escape for him as he grappled with his gender identity.

I felt so, so burnt out on the mainstream art world. A big one would have to be Tojiba CPU Corp. That’s always been a very positive thing for me.

I know I keep bringing it up, but this Gay NFT scene has really been the only artistic place I’ve found community as of late. Galactic Gaylords is a community where every individual, with their distinct skin color, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, nationality, socioeconomic status, and educational background unite to enrich our collective journey.

Using Galactic Gaylord Hub, we are connecting LGBTQ+ groups, brands, and communities to elevate diverse voices within web3.

I feel annoyed when people bring it up now because it almost feels like a given. Additionally, she told CNBC that she originally got involved with NFTs in 2019 after seeing other digital artists leveraging the space, and was eventually inspired to sell her very first NFT on SuperRare.

‍When sorting by Sarah's oldest pieces on SuperRare, the GIF titled “5D Fabric” rises to the top and shows that it sold for only 0.3 ETH nearly two years ago which, at the time, was worth only $47.00.

When I do read it, I feel like it’s always the most basic takeaways. I’ve just seen Kids. Like, what? What are your upcoming projects like?

PARKER ITO: It’s not upcoming, but over the past weekend I was at Wesleyan University to install A Lil’ Taste of A Lil’ Taste of Cheeto in the Night, which is a smaller version of show I opened about ten years ago in a warehouse in downtown Los Angeles.

There’s, like, a lot of glowing lines and coding of tessellating shapes. And then finally, there’s the Gay / Avant NFT scene which I think is making exciting and avant-garde art. It is unclear if the Metaverse team was intentionally spreading misinformation, or if they are unclear on who "The Neopets Team" is.

In addition, community manager Petra was in the /r/Neopets Discord server today and is quoted as saying TNT is limited in terms of what they can say and do:

I actually want to thank you all for the ping.

I don’t know anyone who’s using AI like that.

If Record of Hyperwar is still mintable when this comes out people should definitely grab some of those.

Today, The Neopets Team has responded to a controversy that erupted 6 days ago within the Neopets Metaverse project's Discord server.

For those out of the loop, on September 28th, an anti-gay slur (that we will not repost here) was left unremoved on the Neopets NFT project's Discord server.

(For context, 75,000 ETH volume is currently valued at over $240 million in tangible, spendable money as of August 2021.)

This is an incredible opportunity for artists to make money from their work, and has been the launching pad for many community-based businesses as well.
